Personal Collections

People often ask is what they see here online is all we have.  The simple answer is no.  The museum maintains a 20 square foot climate controlled storage unit that safeguards our history. This is where we store our donated items while they wait to be recorded, scanned, and preserved.  First they are divided into what we call Collections.  Usually these collections are named after the person who donated them.  They remain here until they can be scanned and electronically preserved. Click on the name of the collection to see what each contains.

Billy Jones Collection
Rusti Fawcett Collection
Billy Jones and his Magic Mushroom & Company was one of the earliest known drag troupes who performed in clubs throughout Central Florida in the late sixties and early seventies. Billy donated this collection of photographs upon his death in 2014.
One day a photo album was donated to the museum that we later found out belonged to Rusti Fawcett. Rusti was not sure how it ended up with us (it had been missing in action), but was kind enough to allow us to digitize them.

David Wegman Collection
Photographs in the collection where donated by Willie Tillmon (Geraldine Jones).
David Wegman is the surviving brother Paul Wegman, the infamous "Miss P' whose talents blessed the Parliament House stage from its beginning in 1976 until his death in 2004.  David shared Paul's private photo albums with the GLBT History Museum as a tribute to his brother.
